“Read properly, fewer books than a hundred would suffice for a liberal education. Read superficially, the British Museum Library might still leave the student a barbarian.”
~AR Orage
Welcome to this week’s Saturday Review of Books.
Here’s how it usually works. Find a review on your blog posted sometime this week of a book you’re reading or a book you’ve read. The review doesn’t have to be a formal sort of thing. You can just write your thoughts on a particular book, a few ideas inspired by reading the book, your evaluation, quotations, whatever.
Now post a link here to the specific post where you’ve written your book review. Don’t link to your main blog page because this kind of link makes it hard to find the book review, especially when people drop in later after you’ve added new content to your blog. In parentheses after your name, add the title of the book you’re reviewing. This addition will help people to find the reviews they’re most interested in reading.
Thanks to everyone for participating.

I reviewed three this week–almost a record for me!
I’ve read a few good books this week, but Neverwhere is the only one I’ve had a chance to mention on my blog.
Thank you!
Laura
Tons read, but only thanks to the 48-hour-book-challenge!
Sherry, you can delete link 59 — that was the book I reviewed last week, and for some reason when I typed in the info for this week it didn’t “take” the first time. Mr Linky spit last week’s review up there.
I reviewed books by Madeleine L’Engle and Monty Roberts this week.
Thank you for hosting this! I am blogging it and tweeting it now.
Hi Sherry, I’m finally back for a few weeks to do what I so enjoy! Thanks for providing Saturday Review!
I reviewed (#100!) Real Education (Murray), a must-read (imo) for any serious educator.
I also ordered your Picture Book Pre-School for our Kindergarten teacher. I told her all about it and she is looking forward to using it this next school year. There’s nothing like those good old picture books!
I’ve also put up a Summer Reading Challenge at Seasonal Soundings again (first one in two years!), so whoever is inclined, please join!
Mr. Linky still seems a bit twitchy, but I think I got my links right this week to Michael Chabon’s Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, which I loved, and a graphic novel inspired by it called The Escapists.
Trying to keep up the momentum generated by the 48 Hour Reading Challenge – it’ll never last, but it’s a goal! Messed up the first link by not putting the book in – sorry!
