After Ike Photographs

This picture is my house and front yard in Camino South subdivision, Clear Lake, Houston, TX. The branch extending over the house is what’s left of a large shade tree that was in the center of my front yard.

The other picture is, I think, taken from my cul de sac down the street, Wavecrest or maybe Beachcomber.

I’m really thankful. With so many trees, everything could have been so much worse. Computer Guru Son took the pictures and sent them to me in Fort Worth with his cell phone. Ah, the wonders of technology.

  1. I’ve visited Clear Lake. I’m glad Computer Guru Son is okay; I was worried about him when you said he was staying behind. Is there any house damage? It looks like there’s just a lot of mess.

  2. Your house and family has remained in my thoughts. I’m glad the damage wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

  3. Living in Clear Lake, I knew you all were in the path of the storm. I am happy to hear that, for the most part, things are ok. When we see so much damage and heartache, we are even more thankful.

  5. I’m happy to see that you survived in pretty good shape. Up here in Spring we seem to have gotten some of the worst of the winds but, thankfully, not much of the rising water problem.

I’m waiting for an insurance adjuster to hopefully agree that I need a new roof and not just some major repair work. We were without power until yesterday afternoon, right at 9 1/2 days with no air conditioning or lights. Needless to say, I did a happy dance when I got home yesterday and found the lights burning.
