1. This song, You Speak by Audrey Assad:
2. From Master Cornhill by Eloise Jarvis McGraw:
“On the Oxford road, at half-past eight of a morning, one such band of travelers was nearing Uxbridge—a lurching stagecoach, a straggle of riders and pack animals, a tinker festooned with pots and pans, and a one-horse cart that wrenched, pitched, and creaked along the rutted way, its left wheel ever plunging into a mud-hole as its right one climbed a boulder.”
I just like the vivid description and the picture it created in my mind.
3. I read a chapter from Close Your Eyes When Praying by Virginia Cary Hudson. She always makes me smile, especially when I read her age 10, 1904 book of essays, O Ye Jigs and Juleps!
Here’s someone reading the first chapter of O Ye Jigs and Juleps!, titled “Sacraments”.
4. I got to pick out some books from my library about thunderstorms and hurricanes to send with Z-baby to the afternoon Classical Conversations class that she is assisting with.
Storms
The Storm Book by Charlotte Zolotow.
Flash, Crash, Rumble and Roll by Franklyn Branley.
Storm in the Night by Mary Stolz.
Tornadoes and Hurricanes by Ruth Deery.
5. My dear Brown Bear Daughter is coming home for the weekend from Houston Baptist University, where she spends most of her time these days. I will not only smile for that, but I may also do a Happy Dance, just to amuse everyone.
