Absolutely nothing to do with love and marriage, but one of the Bees at the Beehive has found a new link to my favorite music video: The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins. Think of it as a collaboration collision between Tolkien and Star Trek.
On the subject of Read to Me: I have a question for you since you’re such a reading guru! What tips do you have for choosing books that match a child’s reading level? I have a beginning reader and try to go by what’s listed on various readers, but the actual level of difficulty from one book to another seems to vary quite a bit even on books marked Level 1.
I’m not sure what to tell you. I do go by the reading levels on the books, and you’re right that there’s a lot of variation. I guess I just let them try whatever they want to try, and then I help them readit if they need some help. We often read alternate pages because my second grader reads well, but she gets tired. She wants tp read more challenging stories, but her decoding skills get tired after about a page. So I read one page and then she reads another.
Thanks for the plug!! See you tomorrow. I can’t wait to post my book review for this week. It was a feat for me.
