Saturday Review of Books: December 9, 2006

I never read a book before reviewing it; it prejudices a man so. –Rev. Sydney Smith, 1771-1845

Welcome to this week’s Saturday Review of Books. Here’s how it works. Find a review on your blog posted sometime this week of a book you’re reading or a book you’ve read. The review doesn’t have to be a formal sort of thing. You can just write your thoughts on a particular book, a few ideas inspired by reading the book, your evaluation, quotations, whatever.

Now post a link here to the specific post where you’ve written your book review. Don’t link to your main blog page because this kind of link makes it hard to find the book review, especially when people drop in later after you’ve added new content to your blog. In parentheses after your name, add the title of the book you’re reviewing. This addition will help people to find the reviews they’re most interested in reading.

Thanks to everyone for reviewing, blogging, and linking. Visit Semicolon’s Amazon Store for more great book recommendations.

  1. Yeah, it’s only 11:37 here, but my blog clock is an hour ahead of itself. And techno-challenged person that I am, I don’t know how to change it. I guess I could set the post for an hour later, but this is all getting complicated. As you said, Carrie, oh well.

  2. You collect a lot of reviews here, Sherry. This has become a good source for me to see what others are reading and I always end up adding something to my TR list.

To set the time in my software, it’s under Options and I have to indicate + or – how many hours difference I am from UTC time. It was easy once I googled UTC time to figure out what that is!

  3. Sherry,

    Thanks for hosting!

I’ve added a link to our discussion of “The Grandmother Doll” — a very entertaining glimpse into a Mother & Daughter’s third day of flu-induced confinement.

  4. I love this feature of your blog! I don’t publish reviews ever week, but do frequently publish book review posts.
