“By elevating your reading, you will improve your writing or at least tickle your thinking.”~William Safire
If you’re not familiar with and linking to and perusing the Saturday Review of Books here at Semicolon, you’re missing out. Here’s how it usually works. Find a review on your blog posted sometime during the previous week of a book you were reading or a book you’ve read. The review doesn’t have to be a formal sort of thing. You can just write your thoughts on a particular book, a few ideas inspired by reading the book, your evaluation, quotations, whatever.
Then on Saturday, you post a link here at Semicolon in Mr. Linky to the specific post where you’ve written your book review. Don’t link to your main blog page because this kind of link makes it hard to find the book review, especially when people drop in later after you’ve added new content to your blog. In parentheses after your name, add the title of the book you’re reviewing. This addition will help people to find the reviews they’re most interested in reading.
After linking to your own reviews, you can spend as long as you want reading the reviews of other bloggers for the week and adding to your wishlist of books to read. That’s how my own TBR list has become completely unmanageable and the reason I can’t join any reading challenges. I have my own personal challenge that never ends.

Just linked to my review of Michael Crichton’s The Terminal Man.
Thank you for posting this each week; it encourages me to write out some thoughts about my current reading.
Hi Sherry,
Thanks for continuing to host this great meme.
My entry this week, is an author request to read and review. This in no way affected the review or star rating which I awarded the book. I absolutely loved it and hope that this first time author goes on to great success.
It is a thriller with a strong religious/cult theme, set in modern day Zimbabwe.

Good morning, readers! I didn’t get a chance to visit last week, so I have a passel of books this morning, including a few from The Morning News Tournament of Books, and a cute new picture book, Loon Baby.
Sorry, I’m new and I titled my link wrong. It goes to my review of LOST AND FOUND: Three by Shaun Tan.
Great meme! I hope to keep participating.
Just posted my review of ‘The Existential Detective’.
Sherry, thank you for linking to Cindy’s review of Auntie Robbo. There is nothing quite like finding a friend who loves the same book.
I also wanted to tell you that I highlighted Art from Africa yesterday, a Zimbabwean artist, Willa Pitcher. I thought you might enjoy her art.

Sherry, I was so excited that Carol in Oregon reviewed “Auntie Robbo”–one of my favorite books of all time!–that I blogged about it on my main blog:
Notes in the Key of Life
Sherry–For Bohjalian books, I really loved Skeletons at the Feast. It was VERY sad, as it’s a WW2 novel, but it was excellent. Here’s my review: http://smallworldreads.blogspot.com/2009/10/book-review-skeletons-at-feast.html
I just linked up Dog’s Don’t Lie by Clea Simon. I didn’t do a lot of reviews this week so this is from the week before. I just found this great link-up so it’s my first time. I will be back every week now!
Posting a little late this weekend — was away watching my daughter play soccer.
