“Lord! when you sell a man a book you don’t sell just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue – you sell him a whole new life. Love and friendship and humour and ships at sea by night – there’s all heaven and earth in a book, a real book.”~Christopher Morley
If you’re not familiar with and linking to and perusing the Saturday Review of Books here at Semicolon, you’re missing out. Here’s how it usually works. Find a review on your blog posted sometime during the previous week of a book you were reading or a book you’ve read. The review doesn’t have to be a formal sort of thing. You can just write your thoughts on a particular book, a few ideas inspired by reading the book, your evaluation, quotations, whatever.
Then on Saturday, you post a link here at Semicolon in Mr. Linky to the specific post where you’ve written your book review. Don’t link to your main blog page because this kind of link makes it hard to find the book review, especially when people drop in later after you’ve added new content to your blog. In parentheses after your name, add the title of the book you’re reviewing. This addition will help people to find the reviews they’re most interested in reading.
After linking to your own reviews, you can spend as long as you want reading the reviews of other bloggers for the week and adding to your wishlist of books to read. That’s how my own TBR list has become completely unmanageable and the reason I can’t join any reading challenges. I have my own personal challenge that never ends.

Sherry,
I finally read The Hobbit! 🙂
I love the quote with this post! And I hope you are staying cool in the Texas heat. I just realized I enjoy reading reviews of books I have already maybe even more than I enjoy reading books that are new to me. 🙂
I haven’t posted a review here in ages! Too busy working on the new house and gardens to do much reviewing, though I haven’t slowed on reading at all. Huge backlog to review one of these days — but for now, here’s my short review of Emily St. John Mandel’s intriguing second novel. Hope you’re enjoying your summer!
It’s been so long since I’ve participated I forgot today was Sat. Review of Books Day! I actually have 2 review this time.
As always, thanks for providing this.
Trying this for the first time- I think I need to sit back with a cup of tea and a pen for all my new book lemmings!
