Inspired by MM-V, this is the Christmas edition of Name That Movie:
1. “If you’re ever under a falling building and someone offers to pick you up and carry you to safety, don’t think, don’t pause, don’t hesitate for a moment— just spit in his eye.”
“What did that mean?”
“It means we’re going to Vermont.”
2. “Why don’t you kiss her instead of talking her to death?”
“You want me to kiss her, huh?”
“Ah, youth is wasted on the wrong people.”
3. “Yeah, there’s a lot of bad ‘isms’ floatin’ around this world, but one of the worst is commercialism. Make a buck, make a buck. Even in Brooklyn it’s the same–don’t care what Christmas stands for, just make a buck, make a buck.”
4. Rats, singing: “This is my island in the sun!”
5. “All I want is what I have coming to me. All I want is my fair share. ”
6. “Why am I such a misfit? I am not just a nit-wit. You can’t fire me, I quit. Seems I don’t fit in.”
7. “Garments were invented by the human race as a protection against the cold. Once purchased, they may be used indefinitely for the purpose for which they are intended. Coal burns. Coal is momentary and coal is costly. There will be no more coal burned in this office today.”
8. Stacy: Come on, you guys. She must have some good qualities. Think about it. Come on, you two.
Matt: Well, both her eyes are the same color.
Tanya: She never threw up on me.
9. “I wanted to play ‘Mousetrap. Ya roll your dice, ya move your mice. Nobody gets hurt.”
Yeah, we’re heavy on the animated features around here. I still have a four year old in the house.
“Mousetrap. Ya roll yer dice, ya move yer mice. Nobody gets hurt.”
One of my favorite movie lines of all time. Quoted everytime my kids do something that makes more mess, more trouble, more work for me.
The only other one I know is #5, ’cause we just watched it with dd6 last night. She had never seen it before and she cackled her head off at the scenes with Snoopy ice-skating around the pond with all the children.
i love your number one…my girls and i watch white christmas all the time…they particularly love to watch it in july when it’s super hot out…but its been my all time fav christmas movie for something like 20 years….and those gowns are gorgeous…what i wouldn’t give to have gloves be a necessary part of my wardrobe 🙂
We watched both #4 and #7 last night for a CC fest. Those rats crack me up!
I need to know the answer to #1 — that sounds like a very funny movie.

I don’t see enough movies to know any of these. My husband’s off seeing King Kong with our (grown) kids.
But, Merry Christmas–keep up the excellent work and interesting thoughts.
I know 1, 4, and 6 and a couple of others I have hunches about. Are you going to post the answers? Please?
I know 2, 4, 5, 6, and 9 – so far that makes me the winner!
Aw man. That scene in It’s a Wonderful Life… I became a heart-pounding, drooling Jimmy Stewart fan as he walked around the bush holding that robe, saying it was an interesting situation! Oh – He’s The Man!!
