“Consider what you have in the smallest chosen library. A company of the wisest and wittiest men that could be picked out of all civil countries, in a 1000 years, have set in best order the results of their learning and wisdom. The men themselves were hid and inaccessible, solitary, impatient of interruption, fenced by etiquette; but the thought which they did not uncover to their bosom friend is here written out in transparent words to us, the strangers of another age.”~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Welcome to this week’s Saturday Review of Books.
Here’s how it usually works. Find a review on your blog posted sometime this week of a book you’re reading or a book you’ve read. The review doesn’t have to be a formal sort of thing. You can just write your thoughts on a particular book, a few ideas inspired by reading the book, your evaluation, quotations, whatever.
Now post a link here to the specific post where you’ve written your book review. Don’t link to your main blog page because this kind of link makes it hard to find the book review, especially when people drop in later after you’ve added new content to your blog. In parentheses after your name, add the title of the book you’re reviewing. This addition will help people to find the reviews they’re most interested in reading.
Thanks to everyone for participating.

I was looking to be first in today, and then I started reading the Movies list. “White Christmas” is my favorite, too. I just love Danny Kaye.
I feel like I’m cheating, because my post is about two books we’re just starting to read together as a family/couple. The first one looks very promising.
I do really love this feature. 🙂
I really enjoy today’s quote. I had to think a little on it to appreciate it–it’s not as facile as book-loving quotes often are. Plus I’m reading about the Puritans now and their deep love and respect for books, so it feels of a piece.
Lots of graphic novels this week!
