And indeed, what is better than to sit by one’s fireside in the evening with a book, while the wind beats against the window and the lamp is burning?”
Gustave Flaubert
Welcome to this week’s Saturday Review of Books. Here’s how it works. Find a review on your blog posted sometime this week of a book you’re reading or a book you’ve read. The review doesn’t have to be a formal sort of thing. You can just write your thoughts on a particular book, a few ideas inspired by reading the book, your evaluation, quotations, whatever.
Now post a link here to the specific post where you’ve written your book review. Don’t link to your main blog page because this kind of link makes it hard to find the book review, especially when people drop in later after you’ve added new content to your blog. In parentheses after your name, add the title of the book you’re reviewing. This addition will help people to find the reviews they’re most interested in reading.

I read the Newbery Honor book Hattie Big Sky and reviewed it this week. I loved it!
Thanks for hosting this!
Two very different books this week–both great reads. (By the way, I love getting to post here! It keeps me motivated to blog in a timely way.)
Wow, a lot of people reading today! I couldn’t believe there were 20 already and it is so early! 🙂 Thanks Sherry for hosting.
I’m impressed too! I have a hard time believing in the demise of reading when I see the level of participation here.
I reviewed the story of Samson and Delilah and The Picture of Dorian Gray, and both posts have plot spoilers. (Not that either story is that much of a mystery to begin with!)
Thank you again for hosting.
i put two very different books into one post–Fair Weather is for elementary age children, Rock Springs is a collection of short stories
I love that quote — I am going to borrow it and add it to my collection, if you don’t mind.
Thanks for hosting this every week. I enjoy seeing what others thought about books they’ve read.
I love the community of readers here. I read one graphic novel, one fun novel, and one classic novella referenced in the fun one. The GN was a shelf sitter, the fun read a re-read, and the novella from Project Gutenberg, so I bought no new books!
I read The Opposite of Invisible, a debut novel by Liz Gallagher. It was wonderfully written and fun to read!
Hi Sherry!
I’ve posted two links. The second one is correct as it includes the title of the book instead of the title of my blog. I’m trying to do too many things at once and not paying attention. I guess I’ve found my multi-taking limit!
